When to Plan Your Auroralander Trip

Auroralander trips are designed for Alaska’s winter aurora season - mid October through mid April.

What to Bring

The Auroralander includes specialized gear for warmth and comfort, but personal preparation is still important.

Clothing & Layers - heavy winter jackets, insulated boots, gloves & hats and base layers.

Personal Gear - camera equipment, headlamps or flashlights and extra batteries (cold drains them fast)

The Thermal Clam Lookout Tent - offering insulated warmth and 63.5 sq. ft. of usable space to relax, photograph and enjoy the aurora in comfort. Inside, guests can tailor their environment with custom aurora-style lighting with multiple brightness settings. 

 An external diesel heating system pumps in adjustable warm air with no risk of carbon monoxide, while a dedicated power system runs all lighting, heating controls and accessories - plus keeps your devices charged, your cameras ready and even boils water for hot drinks.

Power Systema dedicated power system engineered specifically for this operation. The power distribution has been designed to run all of the tent’s critical systems including heating controls, interior aurora lighting and provides guests with the ability to charge USB devices, power cameras and even boil water.

AuroraLink is a custom tablet-based aurora forecasting and trip planning system that helps guests make informed decisions about when and where to head out in search of the Northern Lights.

Arctic Oven Deluxe Padded Camp Chairs – a chair built for long nights indoors or outdoors, giving guests a comfortable place to relax while waiting for the Northern Lights.

Joulle Electric Water Pot – quickly and efficiently boils water for warm drinks, instant soups or dehydrated meals, perfect for staying warm and energized.
